Nebraska: Fight for what is right. Fight for equal pay.

Despite Congress passing the Equal Pay Act in 1963, women in Nebraska still make less than 79 cents on the dollar compared to men. Not only are women in Nebraska being cheated out of their hard-earned money, Nebraska is the only state to limit its discrimination ban to employers with 15 or more employees. This denial of recourse for many underpaid women in Nebraska adds insult to injury.

It is abundantly clear that the fight for equal pay is not over. But who knows how long we will have to wait for the U.S. Congress to become a place of action again? We cannot let this gross injustice continue indefinitely. That is why we must take the fight for equal pay to the Nebraska State Legislature.

We need Nebraska’s state senators to pass LB928, protecting everyone from sex-based wage discrimination, no matter the size of their employer. Because equal pay is not a luxury for those who can afford it, it is a right that we cannot afford to do without.

Dear State Senator:

Despite Congress passing the Equal Pay Act in 1963, women in Nebraska still make less than 79 cents on the dollar compared to men. Not only are women in Nebraska being cheated out of their hard-earned money, Nebraska is the only state to limit its discrimination ban to employers with 15 or more employees. This denial of recourse for many underpaid women in Nebraska adds insult to injury. We cannot let this gross injustice continue indefinitely.

We call on you to suppor LB928, protecting everyone from sex-based wage discrimination, no matter the size of their employer. Because equal pay is not a luxury for those who can afford it, it is a right that we cannot afford to do without.
