Support Rehabilitation and Livelihood Assistance for Hawkers Affected by Railway Eviction Drives
Support Rehabilitation and Livelihood Assistance for Hawkers Affected by Railway Eviction Drives
I am writing this petition on behalf of the many hawkers, vendors, and their families whose shops have recently been removed during eviction drives around railway stations such as Bardhhaman, Memari, Bandel, and nearby routes.
As a regular traveler on these routes while visiting my grandmother's home in Payradanga, Ranaghat, I have personally seen how these small stalls support entire families. For many vendors, these shops were not just businesses—they were their only source of income and a means of survival.
The recent demolitions have left many families without livelihoods overnight. While we understand the importance of maintaining railway property, public safety, and lawful administration, the human impact of these actions cannot be overlooked.
We respectfully urge the concerned authorities to:
Conduct a fair assessment of affected vendors and their families.
Explore rehabilitation, relocation, or alternative livelihood opportunities.
Provide assistance to vulnerable families who have lost their primary source of income.
Engage with affected communities to identify practical and humane solutions.
Ensure that the concerns of those affected are heard and considered.
This petition is not about politics. It is about compassion, dignity, and supporting hardworking people during a time of crisis.
Your signature can help bring attention to their situation and encourage meaningful action toward relief and rehabilitation.
Please sign and share this petition. Together, we can help ensure that these families are not forgotten.
