Americans Do NOT Want a $54 Billion Increase In Military Spending!

Donald Trump has proposed a 10% increase in the U.S. military budget, amounting to $54 billion.

The U.S. already spends more on its military than the next 7 countries combined. In fact, we spend almost as much as the next 14 countries spend together. In 2015, the U.S. spent $598 billion on the military, and the next 14 countries combined spent $664 billion.

Americans do not want this. Those billions could be spent on things that ACTUALLY help and enrich Americans - healthcare, education, environmental protection, housing, the arts. Instead, Trump would choose to bolster his ego, expand the U.S. empire, give soldiers PTSD, and inch us closer toward more wars than to actually do what governments were intended to: help their citizens.

We are more likely to die from choking on food or a heat wave than from a terrorist attack. Politicians' desire to ramp up military spending is about the ego and toxic masculinity entrenched in the military industrial complex, not "protection."
