Trump and Pence: Stop Provoking North Korea - American Lives Are at Risk

The American people are growing more nervous every day as tensions with North Korea continue to mount. Rather than turning to their foreign policy experts for guidance on how to de-escalate the situation, President Trump and Vice President Pence have decided to employ their own strategy: the equivalent of high school trash talking.

Guess what? It’s not working.

From Trump tweeting that North Korea is “looking for trouble” to Pence warning that “the sword stands ready,” the two are engaging in reckless speech that puts American lives at risk. On top of that, Trump has continually shown ignorance in all sorts of matters concerning foreign relations, with public gaffes further straining already tense relationships and alienating us from our own allies.

It’s time for Trump and Pence to stop provoking foreign leaders and let their foreign policy experts do the talking instead.

Nobody expects the president or vice president to know everything. That’s what advisors are for. However, we do expect our leaders to protect our safety, which is something Trump has repeatedly promised he will do. Unfortunately, his and Pence’s threats to North Korea are doing just the opposite.

Trump said North Korea's nuclear capabilities "will be met with fire and fury like the world has never seen." This kind of rhetoric is the absolute wrong thing for a sitting president to say. He is letting his pride put Americans and global citizens at risk and it's unacceptable.
