Mitt Romney, Planned Parenthood Saves Lives
GOP presidential hopeful Mitt Romney sure has been busy attacking women's rights. He now proposes to strip Planned Parenthood of federal funds.
Romney is merely trying to further convince the anti-choice conservatives of his "pro-life" status. But stripping Planned Parenthood of funding is by no means "pro-life."
In just one public example of thousands, Huffington Post blogger Carolyn Smithers points out that she got a cancer screening at Planned Parenthood. Though she was only 19, she tested positive for cervical cancer. That early diagnosis saved her life, and she went on to have two daughters. Now Smithers is worried about them. Because her girls are at risk for breast cancer, they get regular screenings at, you guessed it, Planned Parenthood.
Destroying Planned Parenthood would effectively deny millions of other women and their families screenings and care for breast exams, pap tests, birth control, and STD tests.
Tell Mitt Romney that Planned Parenthood saves lives!
It is obvious that you grossly misunderstand the role of Planned Parenthood. You see only cheap contraceptives and abortions for women who are reckless and irresponsible. We see a clinic where women can get a broad array of affordable health care services. We see a clinic that quietly, efficiently saves lives while asking, in return, only to stay in business and keep saving lives. We the undersigned ask that you do your homework: Learn the true work of Planned Parenthood and then please, please reverse your position on stripping it of federal funding.
