Four dead lions is four too many. Demand non-lethal lion control.

Leave home, get killed.

It's a grim, all-too-familiar fate for lions who stray outside the borders of Kruger National Park in the South African province of Mpumalanga.

Fewer than 20,000 lions now remain on the entire planet. And roughly 1,600 of those lions are in Kruger National Park.

Nonetheless, in November 2017, officials with the province's tourism office killed a lion who strayed from the park. This was at least the fourth escaped lion to be killed in just 2017.

For the sake of the entire African lion species, we must do what we can to prevent needless deaths.

That's why Care2 is calling on provincial officials to stop killing escaped lions and prioritize non-lethal lion control and deterrent methods that have proven effective in other parts of Africa, such as the pioneering Lion Guardians program.

Please sign Care2's petition now and demand non-lethal lion control to save these treasured big cats. By speaking up today, you can help save the lives of increasingly-rare lions.
