Since 1996 there have been over 60 shootings in schools and universities in the United States. It cannot be more clear that our schools have become a likely and desirable target for some angry and severely mentally disturbed individuals. We must act now and do everything in our power to protect our children from such a tragedy.
We urge local, state and federal government officials to act now and provide the necessary funding to revise and upgrade all public school security and surveillance systems to the best systems possible and provide ALL PUBLIC SCHOOLS with a Police Officer or School Resource Officer trained to respond to the types of threats and attacks that schools now face.
We ask that this need be placed as a TOP PRIORITY in our city, county, state and federal government budget planning to ensure that we are doing everything possible to protect our children while they are in the custody of the public school system.
Is there anything more important in the budgets than providing Safe and Secure Schools for our children?

There should nothing more important than the safety of our children. Since 1996 there have been over 60 shootings in public schools and universities in America. Public schools have clearly become a favorite target for many angry and mentally derranged individuals.
This petition asks that our local, state and federal government officials act now to provide the necessary funding to revise and upgrade all public school security and surveillance systems to the best systems possible and to provide ALL PUBLIC SCHOOLS with a Police Officer or School Resource Officer trained to respond to the types of threats and attacks that schools now face.
We cannot ever guaranteee that this will not happen in our community but we can do everything in our power to prevent it. It is up to our elected officials to place school security as an AGENDA PRIORITY.
