Save the honey bees: demand an end to toxic spraying

The massive and increasing decline of bee populations in this country is putting our food supply in jeopardy. While there has been no definitive answer to the cause of honey bee die-off known as Colony Collapse Disorder, many bee keepers and scientists alike point to the widespread use of pesticides and herbicides as the most likely culprit. While companies such as Monsanto insist that these chemicals are safe, many toxicologists say otherwise. In fact, some researchers have asserted that glyphosate (found in prominent herbicides) may be the most biologically disruptive chemical in our environment, and have linked its use to not only the decline of bee populations, but a host of human health problems as well; these include autism, Alzheimer’s disease, Crohn’s disease, and cancer.

We the undersigned are concerned about the use of sprayed herbicides to clear rights of ways. We are concerned not only about its impacts on bee populations, but also its health effects on humans, and the runoff that potentially contaminates our drinking water supplies. We are asking that you engage in the Precautionary Principal and halt the use of these harmful chemicals.
