Make Mental Health Rapid Response a 4th Emergency Service

My petition: Those with mental health issues have nobody to call in an emergency except paramedics or the Police, neither of which are specialists & are needed on other life threatening emergencies. Sometimes mental health patients are hospitalised or arrested simply to keep them safe which is not the best way. The resources put into this necessary 4th emergency service to help people and be a better use of resources. Funding could come from the NHS budget as this would free up beds and save £'s in wasted resources in not having this facility. The attending duo could consist of one salaried professional with one qualified volunteer to keep costs down without compromising the quality of care.Being available on 999 service will stream calls appropriately and get care to those who need it quickly.
