We need to have Affordable water

Drinking water in New York City is the most expensive in the state and possibly the country. Walking the streets of Manhattan will see you paying anywhere between $2.00 and $4.50 for a 500 ml bottle. On a recent trip to McDonalds, I got a couple Happy Meals for my kids and asked to substitute water instead of soda. They charged me almost $2.00 extra to get plain water. This is not an acceptable direction for us to be headed. We are paying extra for the readily available, healthier option.

I propose to make it mandatory for dining establishments and food stores in NYC to provide an affordable drinking option of $0.75 for a 500ml bottle of standard spring water.  

Obviously no restrictions should be made on other types of available water. 

We just need to have an option available for every day New Yorkers to get affordable healthy hydration.
