Japanese whalers are illegally killing hundreds of whales for meat, under the guise of doing "research". Add your name if you want to punish Japan for allowing this to go on, NOW!
"The Japanese whaling fleet killed 187 Bryde's whales, 25 sei whales and 11 minke whales," according to one news source.
The Gulf of Mexico subspecies of Bryde's whale is listed as endangered under the Endangered Species Act.
The sei whale is also listed as endangered, and is designated as depleted under the Marine Mammal Protection Act.
Like many species of whales, they migrate around the world in search of food.
Protecting them in some waters and not others isn't good enough. These majestic creatures must be protected worldwide.
But it gets worse...
The Japanese have made it abundantly clear that they have no intention to stop murdering these endangered creatures.
Taku Eto, Japanese Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries said in response to the recent 2019 whale harvest: "It's wonderful we had a good start. We will continue our support so that commercial whaling gets back on track."
He thinks it's wonderful that hundreds of rare whales were slaughtered.
The Japanese government is well aware of what they're doing. They simply don't care.
They even lie about their intent, by claiming the whaling is done for research purposes, despite the fact that tons of whale meat is clearly available for sale in the supermarkets of Japan.
"The whales were taken under the guise of "research" — a designation that has kept Japan's whaling industry alive despite a three-decade moratorium on commercial whaling," reported the Washington Post.
The Japanese aren't going to follow any rules.
It's time to stop talking, and start taking action.
That's why we're calling on the United Nations to punish Japan by executing economic sanctions against them, until they submit to the rest of the world and stop murdering endangered animals for food.
