Hasbro is releasing a new Star Wars Monopoly game with characters from the newest film, Star Wars: The Force Awakens. But the game is missing Rey - the lead character, who happens to be a woman.
Instead, players can play as Darth Vader, who isn't even in the movie, or Luke Skywalker, who gets barely any screen time. If you want to play as a Rebellion figure who was actually in the movie, you'll have to choose Rey's male counterpart, Finn, who is way less badass than Rey.
Maybe Hasbro is having a hard time coming to terms with the fact that Star Wars chose a woman as the story's protagonist, but the rest of us are tired of our children only being able to play games as a male hero and excited to welcome Rey. It's ridiculous that a strong female heroine has been excluded from this game.
So fans are asking Hasbro: #WheresRey?
Hasbro claims they chose to exclude her from the game because it was released before the movie, and including her would be a spoiler - but that's ridiculous given Rey is the Star Wars trailers and front and center on the movie poster.
Hasbro has already made the game, so it's too late for a remake. But it's never too late for an apology. Let them know you expect one by signing this petition.
May the Force be with you.
