This petition is to inform the Board of Supervisors that you or someone you know or someone you represent used the Gabrielson Bridge at the end of Hunters Valley Rd in Gabrielson Park.
The Board of Supervisors spent $115,000 to remove the Gabrielson Bridge. The board made little effort to inform the public. The Fairfax County Trails and Sidewalks committee was not informed. No public meetings were held.
From what little public information is available, options to fix the maintenance issues were not seriously considered. We have so many groups, who do so much for the county, their input could have helped discover another option besides destroying a crossing that has been there since 1942 and is on all the trail maps and trail websites.
