Support comprehensive sex-ed in New Orleans schools!

New Orleans has some of the highest rates of unintended pregnancies and sexually transmitted diseases among young people. These problems negatively affect the ability of young people to stay healthy and do well in school.

Comprehensive sexual health education including abstinence needs to be taught in ALL public schools. Surveys about risk behavior lead to better accountability for the programs needed to support comprehensive sexual health education. Parents can still choose to opt-out for their children to not participate if that is their preference.

The community wants these bills - both the New Orleans City Council and the Orleans Parish School Board passed resolutions of support and the new school superintendent has gone on record to support them.

We are asking the members of the Louisiana Legislature to please vote for two LOCAL BILLS in the House - HB 326 and 359 - and one LOCAL BILL in the Senate SB 31 to allow New Orleans to take important steps to improve health and behavior outcomes among young people in public schools.
