End Family Separation & Child Detention!

As thousands of refugees flee their home countries due to extreme violence and immigrants come to our country searching for economic opportunity, the United States continues to separate children from their families and detain them in inhumane conditions. These conditions were recently highlighted in the Inspector General of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security report:

"We are concerned that overcrowding and prolonged detention represent an immediate risk to the health and safety of DHS agents and officers, and to those detained," the report said."

In addition, numerous photos, videos and sworn statements support the reports of deplorable conditions, threatening behavior and sexual harassment and abuse. 

For this reason, I add my name to this petition demanding an end to family separation and family detainment and urge you to pass legislation to resolve the issue in a manner that is equal to our nation's commitment to human rights and human dignity.
