We support the plan to transform Engine 204 into a multi-use community arts project.
The proposed Brooklyn Center for the Arts will be a multi-arts center which will serve a diverse community in Brooklyn through the arts. The plan calls for a multi-use arts center that will engage visiting artists and host programs that celebrate the ethnic and cultural diversity of the community. Suggested programming includes music, repertory dance and filmmaking, educational exhibitions and lectures, poetry and readings.
Easily accessible to public transportation with surrounding retail shops and restaurants, Engine 204 would be an ideal location for the cultural center. Annual collaborative free events would enable the public to explore the museum, hear music, see dance and theatre performances, have a snack at the concession stand, and be %u201Carts%u201D occupied for the entire day.
An innovative and collaborative way to transform our community, the BCA is a long awaited important step in recognizing the many important contributions Brooklyn makes to the cultural offerings of New York City.
Get involved today and help turn this idea into a reality for Brooklyn!
