The Old City of Kaesong in North Korea has an Outstanding Universal Value: Kaesong is the only city in Korea that kept within its center a typically traditional Korean architecture.
By becoming a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Kaesong Old Town could develop tourism in North Korea and therefore open the country to internationals and bring dialogue between peoples, be a source of income and reduce poverty and ease tensions by creating economical and human flows.
Kaesong Old Town is the last traditional town across the Korean Peninsula. What's more the site is close to the demarcation line and the developing inter-Korean industries, meaning that either tensions or reconciliations could be a threat to the Outstanding Universal Value of the Old Town of Kaesong.
