To Stop Unjust Deportation Of Landed Immigrants Whom Have Resided Permanently In Canada For Over 50 Years!!
*Very Urgent Please Sign* My Father immigrated an innocent child to Canada in the early 60's at the age of 7and has spent his entire life here in Canada and was raised Canadian by all standards. He is now 60 years old and is in failing health, he cannot walk with out the use of a cane or motorized scooter, he also contracted hepatitis c while living here. His parents are now deceased and are buried here along with his grandparents and 2 brothers, while the other 3 of his other siblings still alive also have always lived here and still reside here in Canada. He has no contacts after all these years that reside in Portugal and is facing a deportation order back to Portugal on June 5, 2013. The reason for my fathers deportation is due to prolonged addiction and mental health issues where once again the Canadian government has failed him in helping to manage his disease and now instead of helping a humane being whom has spent his entire life here the answer is to do away with him by simply sending off to a foreign country to fend for himself at an age where it is legal to retire here in Canada to say the least about his disabilities.
The analogy I use is that it is very similar to that of an aging dog that that has had some disorders and trouble being house broken. Finally aging and becoming an issue to maintain or handle the answer would be to drive three or four hours up north, out of the city, drop it off in the middle of no where at the side off the road and drive away leaving it there to fend for itself. I ask this question of anybody reading this petition if it would be inhumane to treat our animals this way, how can we possibly treat another human being this way?

My Father immigrated an innocent child to Canada from Portugal in the early 60's at the age of 7 and has spent his entire life here in Canada. He was raised Canadian by all standards. He is now 62 years old and is in failing health, he cannot walk with out the use of a cane or motorized scooter; he also contracted hepatitis c while living here and is currently living on his disability income. His parents are now deceased and are buried here along with his grandparents and 2 brothers, while the remaining 3 of his other siblings whom as well, have also always lived here, still reside here in Canada. He has no contacts after all these years that reside in Portugaland is facing a deportation order back to Portugal on June 5, 2013. The reason for my father’s deportation is due to prolonged addiction and mental health issues where once again the Canadian government and judicial system has failed him tremendously in the lack of helping him to manage his disease. The judicial system mostly to blame, as all his charges and convictions were drug and alcohol related, instead of imposing stiff sentences and conditions for my father over the years to seek treatment, all they ever did was give him light jail sentences and released him back into society without any tools or conditions in place for his successful rehabilitation. Even after direct request from myself and family members through counsel or in court during hearings aimed at judges and crown attorneys to do so, over the years, all requests were ignored. Once again now instead of helping a humane being whom has spent his entire life here, the answer is to do away with him by simply sending off to a foreign country to fend for himself at an age where it is legal to retire here in Canada, to say the least about his disabilities. My father has now been drug and alcohol free for the past 5 years and has done all on his own steam but with the support of some community workers and his family. He deserves a better fate then this, after a life long battle with mental health & drug addiction, he has lost it all. Please leave him with a sense of dignity in allowing him to live his day out with some enjoyment of seeing his grandchildren and great grandchildren grow up as he has already missed so much in his altered state.

On a final note, please keep in mind this was a seven year old innocent child when he arrived here. The reason my grandparents immigrated here was to offer their children a better quality of life and access to more opportunity. All the things my father has become here both good and bad, has been a direct result of exposure through peers on our streets, in our nation. We are a product of our environment. These were habits he developed living in our country so we must bare some of the responsibility for that. Every individual living in the country has been impacted in some facet or another within their own family or otherwise with the war on drugs and its consumptions. I have personally lost a brother and uncle due to alcoholism and the abuse of intravenous drugs both far too young to pass. Please help assist me in the battle against unjust immigration and deportation, this is our problem, lets fix it!
