The Korean War was named the FORGOTTON WAR.
It took 40 years of lobbying by the Korea Veterans to be recognized as Canadian Veterans and in 1997 they were presented a War Service Medal by the Canadian Government.
Now this July 2013 will be the 60th Anniversary of the " End of the Korean War".
Some 27,000+ men and women served fromCanadafor the freedom of the people ofKorea, 516 lives were lost for this cause.
The Government of Canada has declared the year 2013 as the "Year of the Korea War Veteran".
Almost 12 years ago the Korea Veterans Association of Canada approached the Government of Canada to approve the wearing of theRepublicofKorea War ServiceMedal on their Legion Blazers or Uniforms, this request was turned down.
With the 60th Anniversary to the End of the Korean War - it is only fair and right - that we the family and friends of Canadian Korea Veterans challenge and request our Canadian Government to stand by our remaining living Veterans and honour them with the Right to Wear the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
When the last Veteran dies, the lights will go out on this cause that they fought and died for.
Let us all stand together and Thank our Veterans for the freedom they have given the South Korean people as well as ourselves.
