Tell Congress: We Want Insurance Coverage for Birth Control

WHO CONTROLS YOUR BIRTH CONTROL?

Do you think insurance companies should cover prescription birth control? If yes, you're in the majority. So why are women still paying out of pocket for birth control, while drugs for men, such as Viagra, are covered by insurance?

Sign this petition to tell your Senator that women deserve full insurance coverage for birth control under the Equity in Prescription Insurance and Contraceptive Coverage Act (EPICC)!

The EPICC is about fairness and equality. This bill would ensure that health insurance companies cover prescription birth control to the same extent that they cover other prescription drugs. What's so wrong with that?

Almost half of all states have already enacted their own birth control coverage laws. But a woman's right to health care should not depend on where she lives. We need to send a strong message to Congress: insurance should cover prescription birth control!
Dear Senator,

I am writing to ask you to support EPICC, the Equity in Prescription Insurance and Contraceptive Coverage Act. EPICC is a common sense bill that would ensure that health insurance companies cover prescription contraception to the same extent that they cover other prescription drugs.

Women deserve equal treatment for basic health needs such as contraception. Today, women pay more out-of-pocket for their health needs than men do, in large measure due to the exclusion of contraception from so many plans. Without federal legislation, too many health insurance plans and employers will continue to treat women's health needs in a second-class manner.

Women, not insurers or employers, have the right to make personal decisions regarding contraception for themselves: contraception should not be excluded from insurance plans, and employers and insurers should not be allowed to refuse to cover them. Moreover, improving access to contraception is the best way to reduce unintended pregnancy and thus the need for abortion.

Please support this sensible legislation.

Sincerely,
