We, the undersigned , request the immediate resignation of the entire Cheyenne Animal Shelter board, the newly hired Director of the shelter, and the shelter's staff Veterinarian.
The first week in May, the Cheyenne Animal Shelter, in Cheyenne Wyoming, killed approximately 42 dogs. We are unsure of the actual number killed because the reported numbers have varied from 42 to 80. Killing these dogs because of the Canine Influenza
Virus required much more research and information before condemning them to death. With hindsight, we feel the killing will be shown to have been a rush to judgement.
Those in a position of power over the life and death of adoptable dogs at the animal shelter failed to protect them and failed to do their job which included making informed and educated decisions. They also failed to take into consideration the communities’ opinions and feelings about the dogs living or dying.
Those that failed to protect the adoptable dogs and made the decision to kill them need to be held accountable. A new board, new director, and new veterinarian, who have the homeless animals of Laramie County truly at heart, are what we feel is needed in Cheyenne, Wyoming. If you agree, please sign below.
