Dorset County Council plans to demolish St Martins House in Queen Street, Gillingham SP8 4DZ, without any consultation with Gillingham residents, using a "permitted development" loophole in planning regulations. They have already used this loophole to obtain consent to do so. The building is listed as a Heritage Asset in the recently adopted Neighbourhood Plan document, which local residents voted 91% in favour of in the official referendum. Our county council has totally ignored this. We, the undersigned, want Dorset County Council to promise not to demolish St Martins House.

Bad news: The occupants of St Martins have been given notice to quit by 8 Jan - even though Dorset County Council have convened a Petition Panel meeting to review this petition on 20 Dec. Meanwhile, the planning application for the replacement development is https://planning.north-dorset.gov.uk/online-applications/applicationDetails.do?keyVal=PGDWE4LHIEP00&activeTab=summary. If you live in Dorset, please take a look and comment. If this application is turned down, we may yet save St Martins.
