Animals Force-Fed Feces and Sliced Open—Urge Oreo Maker to End Cruel Experiments

  • par: PETA U.S.
  • destinataire: Dirk Van de Put, Chairman and CEO, Mondelēz International
Mice ate human feces for the maker of Oreo cookies.

We wish it wasn't true. But it is.

The maker of Oreo has paid experimenters to force mice to eat human feces before killing them in gruesome tests that have nothing to do with human health.

PETA discovered the Oreo maker's pointless "nutritional science" experiments on animals include tormenting countless animals by:

  • Force-feeding mice feces from obese women and a diet high in saturated fat, then killing them
  • Force-feeding human feces to mice, feeding them a chemical and a diet high in saturated fat, then killing and dissecting them
  • Force-feeding human feces and glass beads to mice and feeding them a diet high in saturated fat
  • Feeding rats a mixture of chips, crackers, and candies; force-feeding them glucose; and repeatedly taking their blood

Don't be fooled: Oreo's maker, Mondelēz International, instituted a limited animal testing ban for its products and ingredients after hearing from PETA in 2018. However, the company left a big loophole in its policy by saying that it would "only engage in Animal Testing … when it is needed to advance fundamental knowledge in nutritional science."

The company can stop the public backlash it's receiving over its animal testing by joining PETA's revolutionary Eat Without Experiments program, which makes it easy for consumers to see which food and beverage companies do or do not test on animals.

Please urge Mondelēz International, maker of Oreo, to stop testing on animals and join PETA's Eat Without Experiments program.

I was appalled to learn that Mondelēz International paid experimenters to force-feed mice feces from obese women in support of its "healthy snacking" agenda. Other experimenters paid by your company fed mice chemicals and diets high in saturated fat before killing and dissecting them—all under the guise of "nutritional science." This is senseless cruelty that has no relevance to human health.

What's even more disturbing is that Mondelēz is misleading the public. The company tells consumers it doesn't test its products or ingredients on animals, but its own policy allows animal testing "when it is needed to advance fundamental knowledge in nutritional science." This deceptive messaging hides the reality that the company continues to fund cruel and unnecessary experiments on animals.

Please correct this. Take immediate action to close this loophole by committing to ban all animal testing not explicitly required by law, and join the growing list of companies that have signed one of three Statement of Assurance documents for PETA's Eat Without Experiments program.

Thank you for your time and attention.

Sincerely,
