This petition is an attempt to get the owners and persons responsible at YouTube to make the needed corrections to the service so that the content providers no longer have to deal with harassment from individuals with nothing better to do than make people's lives more difficult.
Dear Mr. Chen and all those involved at YouTube,
The undersigned YouTube content providers have had enough of the harassment, threats, insults and general disarray that exists with the current state of YouTube. We do not want to feel as if we should take our content elsewhere but if we cannot find some resolution to these issues we may have no other choice. At issue are the following items.
Item 1: There is no provision for the proper removal of users who abuse the service and violate the terms of service. The current requirements to become a member of YouTube are lacking. For every one account you "suspend" these individuals have a dozen more they can use to continue to harass the content providers. Suspension is not enough and while we recognize the problems that exist with the banning of IP addresses, we have many ideas outlined that might be of use. We wish you would consider them and talk to us about them.
Item 2: Many of us cannot delete comments, private messages or other content as it reappears without notice. We also have had problems with messages going to the wrong places, not showing up at all or other problems. We are aware of some database problems which you said you had but which you have since told us were fixed. They are not fixed.
Item 3: You do not keep us well enough informed. We have established multiple ways for you to contact many of us at the same time so that you can keep us properly informed but you have not availed yourself of these resources. We recognize and understand that you are very busy, however, we, as the content providers for your site, expect that you will show us a little more respect than this. Were it not for the content of your site you would have no site to speak of.
Item 4: When it comes to featured videos, we do not believe it is proper that individuals who have paid for the privilage should be on there. Nor do we appreciate that the terms of service some but not all content providers. Why do NBC, CBS and others have the right to make money from their content but not anyone else?
