Prosecute to the Fullest: Three Dogs Abandoned in San Antonio, One Dead From Starvation

Three dogs were left in the care of a San Antonio man who, according to the Bexar County Constable's Office, Precinct 2, abandoned them. One of the three died from extreme emaciation and malnourishment. The man, Sebastian Martinez Guajardo, is now wanted on a Class A misdemeanor charge of cruelty to a non-livestock animal.
A dog does not starve overnight. It happens over days and weeks, and every one of those days is a choice by the person responsible. Yet the current charge is a misdemeanor, the same category used for many minor offenses.

I am asking Bexar County District Attorney Joe Gonzales to review this case as soon as Mr. Guajardo is in custody and to file the most serious charges the evidence supports under Texas law, rather than accepting a quick plea. I am also asking that any resolution include a ban on owning animals and full restitution for the two surviving dogs' veterinary care.
