Ban cyanide bombs that threaten pets and wildlife
Many Americans have never heard of the federal program that uses taxpayer dollars to slaughter wildlife and has killed hundreds of beloved family pets.
In 2017, then-14-year-old Canyon was enjoying a day outdoors with his dog just outside their home in Idaho. They accidentally triggered a "cyanide bomb" and Canyon watched in horror as his best friend died right before his eyes. Canyon suffered nausea and numbness but this indiscriminate M-44 "cyanide bomb" could easily have taken the boy's life.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA)'s Wildlife Services uses outdated and inhumane methods to kill "nuisance" animals, including coyotes and other native canids, small mammals and countless birds. Sadly, these unscientific wildlife control methods kill thousands of innocent animals each year, including beloved pets. Among these tools are M-44s, baited sodium cyanide ejectors ("cyanide bombs") that poison any animal that encounters them.
Despite this evidence, Wildlife Services continues to use these deadly devices across the U.S. You can help protect people, pets and wildlife by bringing an end to the use of cyanide bombs.

As your constituent, I urge you to support Canyon's Law, a bill to end taxpayer-funded use of M-44 cyanide bombs that threaten animals and people alike.
M-44s – sodium cyanide ejectors – placed by USDA Wildlife Services have killed hundreds of family pets in recent years, and have even poisoned people. Despite leaving families devastated each year, Wildlife Services continues to use these deadly, indiscriminate devices, ignoring glaring public safety risks and lack of scientific support.
In remembrance of a tragic M-44 poisoning in Idaho—where an American family lost their beloved dog to a government-set cyanide bomb, which narrowly missed their son—I ask that you take action to ensure that no other family has to endure such an experience.
