Pledge to Boycott China until animals stop suffering

Pledge to boycott Chinese products, tourism and the 2008 Olympics in Beijing until the Chinese Government declares the farming and eating of dog and cat meat illegal and until China passes animal welfare laws protecting all animals from unnecessary suffering and torture.
On this information age, China's mistreatment of animals is no longer a secret. Video footage is available around the world showing attrocities committed towards defenseless creatures. China wants to increase trade with the rest of the world and boost their image at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, but we all know better. We cannot support China until they seriously improve human and animal rights. This petition is focusing on animal abuse and torture.
China is the largest consumer of cat and dog meat. They also produce 50% of the world's fur. The ways in which these defenseless animals are treated are beyond barbaric. They are sadistically tortured. Cats, dogs and rabbits are crowded into little wire cages in such a way that their limbs break. They are piled on top of each other and their faces are usually mutilated from pressing against the wire for days. These animals are then transported for days without food and water. Those animals that arrive dead at the live animal market are the lucky ones. Workers throw the cages from the truck to the cement floor and you can hear the screams of pains as limbs break from the fall. Then the animals are pulled from the cages from their necks with wire rings and thrown against fences. Dogs are beaten to death because of the belief that the more the animal suffers, the better the meat will taste. Cats are ususally boiled alive and skinned. Many animals are still alive when skinned.
The Chinese have admitted to mislabeling cat and dog fur as rabbit or fake fur and this fur makes their way into Europe and North America's discount stores as trims, trinckets or blankets.
The workers that do this kind of job make no effort to reduce animal suffering but have a smile on their faces as they sadistically torture these terrified animals.
At some restaurants cats and dogs are kept in cages and the customer can choose his victim.
The rest of the civilized world has already paid the price for China's barbaric eating traditions with the outbreak of SARS. If these customs continue, millions of animals will continue to suffer a hellish life and a torturous death and humans around the world will have increased risks to their health.
The moment China learned they were awarded the 2008 Olympics, they started clearing the streets of stray animals by massacring them in the cruelest ways, in front of people and throwing them into piles, just like garbage.
A country that is capable of such brutality towards innocent creatures does not deserve our support. Even Sir Paul Mc Cartney has pledged never to perform in China and he is asking the civilized world to boycott everything from this country.
We have decided not to post photos because they are heart wrenching but if you want to learn more, visit www.animalasia.org. and you will find other ways in which you can help, like writing a letter to the Chinese ambassador in your country.
This petition will reach the Chinese Government and the Chinese Olympic Committee.
