This petition is to make the world listen to the truth, that endometriosis can be a as bad as many things out there, there is no certain thing im aiming for. We just need to get doctors and women of all ages to know what this disease is. Maybe give out more info at doctors offices. This petition is just to have people listen to what we deal with and maybe find more ways to help us deal with it.
If we had cancer people would listen, and notice what we go through, but we dont have cancer, so no one listens, no one wants to help women with endo. Its like we have a scarlet letter. No one cares. We can scream about it but no one hears. When we say some thing about pain, every one things its nothing. But its not nothing. People are so ignorant, no one wants to see the truth. Endometriosis continues to remain significantly under-treated and under-funded. In fiscal year 2000, the National Institutes of Health planned to spend $16.5 billion on research. Of that funding, only $2.7 million was earmarked for researching Endometriosis. That amounts to approximately 40 cents per patient, in stark contrast to other illnesses like Alzheimer's Disease and Lupus, which received approximately $105 and $30 per patient, respectively.
Do you think thats fair to us? No, its not. 10 to 20 percent of American women of childbearing age have endometriosis; up to 2 million women in the UK. They have even found endometriosis in a newborn baby. People want to be so stupid and not listed. Why? Why is it so hard to admit the truth? We need help too. We are women, human beings. It makes me mad when a doctor can sit there and say every thing is fine and then a year later tell you that in a year you wont be able to have kids. Its pethitic. NO one should deal with this. This disease has caused women to overdose trying to get away from the pain, it has even cause women to kill them selves because they couldnt take it any more, leaving there family and friends behind to mourn their death. You will find so many things about cancer saying how many people died from cancer, or killed them selves because they have given up, but you will NEVER find any thing like that for endo. No one wants to hear it.
