Today, animals all over the world are being abused, tortured, viciously murdered, neglected and starved to death. Most states animal abuse is considered a felony, but there are still 5 states that only consider it a misdemeanor. However, many of the states, Massachusetts for example, consider it a felony, but the max penalty is only 5 years and $2,500 fine. That is not even close to giving these animals the justice they deserve. Please sign this petition if you want to increase the penalty for animal abuse. Please e-mail this petition to your friends and family.
If I reach my goal, I plan to bring this to the Governor of MA's attention.

Dear Governor Deval Patrick,
We are trying to increase the penalty for animal abuse in Massachusetts. Abusers are not being punished enough and this needs to be corrected as soon as possible. So many innocent animals are dying and being viciously tortured. It's inhumane and deeply disturbing. We can't just sit here and let this happen. We need you to do something.
I was a criminal justice major at Northeastern and I know that animal abuse is a great predictor of people who become abusive with humans later on in life. Many adolescents who abused animals went on to become murderers and violent in general to humans.
By giving abusers a measly slap on the wrist is not teaching a lesson, nor is it giving animals justice.
It sickens me to read articles daily on animal abuse cases where people are getting only a month or two probations or a small fine for horrific animal abuse cases. This is inacceptable.
Please Governor, do something to help these animals. They need our help now and you're the one to help them.
