The recent massacre of christians in Gojra (Pakistan) is a clear manisfestation of the dreadfully low level of religious tolerance present in the Pakistani society. Pakistani citizens were burnt alive by a gang of Islamic extremists. The victims fault was that they happened to be from a different religion. Ofcourse the extremist criminals tried to legitimise this cruelty through allegations that the victims dishonoured the copies of the Quran . I would not have felt so hopeless if the state of Pakistan had resolved to protect the religious minorities in Pakistan. Rather sadly, the constitution of Pakistan gives a free hand to religious bigots through the Pakistan Penal Code 295 B/C. Christians, Hindus, Sikhs, Ahmadis & others are as much citizens of Pakistan as a muslim is. Let us take guidance from the founder of Pakistan, Jinnah s famous quote You may belong to any religion or caste or creed %u2013 that has nothing to do with the business of the State%u2026.
