Bigger Losers as cover stars!
Letter from member LOUBIELOU_D:
To the editor of WW Magazine
As an on-line subscriber to Weight Watchers who has aready lost 32lbs (with only 47.5lbs to go !) I have found weight watchers to be a successful approach to weight loss that I actually enjoy.
I also really enjoy reading the magazine and find that the recipes and exercise plans very inspiring. However, I have noticed that many of the cover stars and success stories are those of have had less to lose. In no way am I discounting the weight loss and achievements of these people, I would find stories of those with more to lose more helpful.
I would also like to point out that in the July issue the cover star was alreasy within a healthy weight range for her height before starting weight watcher and now at her goal weight is actually below that level (I know its only a pound, but still, a pounds a pound).
This type of story sometimes makes me feels as though that my weight loss attempts may in the end be futile as even if I am at the top end of the healthy range, I will still been seen as "large and frumpy": an image perpetuated by the media and in my opinon you are doing nothing to discount.
However, that said, my weight loss journey is for me and when I lose enough weight for me to be healthy, I will be happy. I know I can achieve this through Weight Watchers and the continued support I recieve from friends and family and the 5 message board.
