DHMO... The chemical that Washington refuses to acknowledge

The United States government has been involved in a silent conspiracy against the people of our nation by its complacency to the rise of chemicals in our food and water system.   A Food and Drug Administration spokesperson readily admits the agency has done little to discourage the use of Dihydrogen-Monoxide in the growing, manufacturing and processing of America's food.   "America's farmers have become increasingly more dependent upon the use of Dihydrogen-Monoxide to grow crops for several hundred years," says Karen Riley of the FDA.  "People want larger and juicier produce and the farmers are faced with making tough choices to remain competitive."

Use of this powerful chemical solvent was first made public in a story by National Public Radio who discovered that large amounts of DHMO are used as ingredient in latex house paints, pesticides, and carbonated beverages.  Independent lab results found large amounts in tomatoes, oranges and most melon crops.  NPR says that a Senate Sub Committee is looking into the allegations and will likely hold formal hearing sometime in the Spring 2008.

So what are the potential health risks associated with DHMO?  In small quantities most physicians agree, that it can be relatively harmless.  The Center for Disease Control acknowledges the chemical has been linked to the spread of e coli, Meningitis, and Giardia. When ingested in large quantities, humans have been known to severely compromise their digestive system resulting in uncontrollable expulsion of liquid.

As concerned citizens, we must contact our elected officials to implore them to ban the use of DHMO.   Please add your comments of support. Your elected officals can be found at http://www.usa.gov/Contact/Elected.shtml .  For more information please read http://www.dhmo.org/ .
