McClure Fire Extinguisher Replacement
The goal of this petition is to replace all of the Compressed Water "Grade A" fire extinguishers in McClure Middle School, Seattle WA, with foam "Grade AB&C" fire extinguishers. The reason for this is as follows:Most of the Fire Extinguishers in McClure Middle School use Compressed Water and are rated as "Grade A" because they are designed for ordinary combustible materials such as paper, cardboard, wood, and plastic. We should have "Grade AB&C" fire extinguishers because they can do what a "Grade A" one can do, plus also be able to put-out fires from Flammable or Combustible liquids (Class B), and Electrical Fires (Class C). They are also not as heavy. With the current fire extinguishers, discharging on Flammable or Combustible liquids would spread the fire, and discharging on an Electrical fire would greatly increase the risk of an electrical shock. I propose that McClure Middle School remove all of the current compressed water fire extinguishers and replace them with "Grade AB&C" fire extinguishers of the same size. This will greatly reduce the risk of personal injuries and structural damage, and it seems like it should be the standard in a building full of kids. Please sign this petition to agree with this idea.
We the undersigned would like to make McClure Middle School a safer place. By this goal, we would like you to replace all of the "Grade A" rated Compressed Water fire extinguishers in McClure Middle School with foam "Grade AB&C" rated ones. Our school caught on fire in February of 2009, and we would hate to have that happen again and have a fire extinguisher used that would spread the fire or put people in danger. Please strongly consider this. Thank you for taking the time to read our concern!
