My Yellow Shirt

We wish to present a list of signatures a million signatures long to every municipality in the United States that prohibit the spreading of laundry in a homeowner's or renters property under city ordinance to pressurize them to repeal this ordinance immediately; there are many, many cities and towns that under the current energy crisis still prohibit clothes being dried in the open air; even in your own backyard.
This wasteful use of using gas/electric dryers instead of solar & wind power with the only benefit being a Buena Vista devoid of laundry lines, is costing millions of barrels of oil per year and is a luxury we can ill afford.
I had travelled to go to school several thousand miles from where I was born at age 12. We lived at school and one of the first self reliance tasks, was to learn how to hand wash your own clothes. Having mastered this step fairly quickly one Sunday I washed my valued yellow shirt and put it on the line; I then fell asleep till dusk. When I went out, my yellow shirt was gone! This reminiscence filling my mind while hanging my children's clothes out to dry in the UK this summer.
