Refugee Status for gravely ill farm worker

We, the undersigned, urge that the Government of Canada support the
Humanitarian and Compassionate application for Mr. Hermelindo Gutierrez
and his family. We are aware of the circumstances of his case. He came to
support his family by working in Canada legally through the Seasonal
Agricultural Worker Program. After many years of working here, he
unexpectedly suffered from kidney failure. Following a long separation,
his wife and three young children came to visit him and his son Sergio
suffered from a head injury while cycling shortly after their arrival.

Hermelindo Gutierrez is relying on regular dialysis treatments to keep him
alive. We are gravely concerned that he will not get the care he needs in
Mexico to sustain his life and allow him to provide for a family and
support a son recovering from a head injury. Hermelindo Gutierrez is a dedicated worker, husband and father; he is well liked and respected by those who know him. He would make an excellent addition to Canadian society. He has already proved his value to our country through his years of work here and his involvement in his local community.

Given the circumstances that brought the family to Canada and the lack of life-sustaining care that will be available to Hermelindo Gutierrez if he is deported to Mexico we, the undersigned, believe that the Gutierrez family should be granted refugee status.  Thank you for taking the time to read this letter.
