Save Budget Cinemas South on Hwy. 100

Come on with the economy the way it is and will most likely be for awhile this is really the only place we go to see movies on the big screen.  Yes they are coming out faster and faster onto DVD but it just isn't the same seeing them at home.  Here is an article I found....

Plans to raze the Budget Cinema on state Highway 100 to make room for a condominium/retail project has been pushed back as far as two years as economic conditions continue to hamper development of the area.

The Common Council in 2006 approved the Greenfield Highlands project, part of a 47-acre tax incremental financing district along Highway 100 that would include retail and condominiums.

Part of the plan was to raze the theater, 4475 S. 108th St., this year to make way for the development. But work has slowed due mostly to the bad economy and the theater has remained open.

The Common Council voted last week to amend the developer's contract that would push back the theater's demolition date to July 2011. The razing could occur earlier if the theater or developer gives 120 days notice. Until then, the theater is expected to continue to remain in operation.
