Save the QBx1!

As of now, there are plans in the works to split the QBx1 into two separate routes, the Bx23 and the Q50. The Bx23 will provide service from Co-Op City to Pelham Bay Station, while the Q50 will go to Flushing.

These changes will only cost the MTA more money in a tight economy in many arenas; including, but not limited to:  driver training, sign replacement, maintenance, and gas.

This will also intensify additional confusion, and make a simple trip from Co-Op City to Throgs Neck or Queens a difficult trip.

Instead, this petition supports a re-working of the route. This will include elimination of its "varieties", or shuttles (particularly the Section 5 shuttle) in place of a simple route: To Flushing, via 5-4-3-2-1 and from Flushing, via 1-2-3-4-5. It should also make limited stop within Co-Op City, in order to assist the newly created Bx38 route and improve passenger flow within the community. Also, this petition supports an increase of headways for the route, particularly during the off-peak.

If the Q44 has it, so should we!

Please don't split a route that has served so many people for years!

All the gratitude in the world to DeShawn Stevenson and Trevor Logan for their photographs.
