The Victorian government is planning to change their own regulations that currently protect endangered wildlife, so that clearfelling forested habitat where these animals survive, is exempt from the law.
In south eastern Australia, the forests of East Gippsland are the last stronghold for many endangered native wildlife, like the Spot-tailed Quoll, large forest owls, Potoroos (a mini-kangaroo) and huge gliding possums. They need old growth forests. The government was recently taken to court for not protecting them under their own law, so are now planning to change regulations under the law that would see these rare native animals killed and their ever shrinking forested homes annihilated, mostly for woodchips and paper.

We the undersigned demand that the Victorian Government stop weakening the effects of the Flora & Fauna Guarantee Act by creating variations to the Timber Production Code of Practice, effectively making it easier to log the habitat of rare and endangered species. Instead we want to see the Act strengthened and the habitat of these species protected for ever.
