Smoke Free Midland
The Michigan Legislature has not been able to pass anti smoking laws for public places. So we need to get this done on a local level. We will present the results of this petition to our City Council to show them the strong community support necessary to enact proper legislation. Please sign if you are a resident of the City of Midland, Michigan. We should be able to go into restaurants and bars without having to breathe second hand smoke. We can get this done. Thanks
We the undersigned desire that City Council enacts an ordinance to ban smoking in public places. We need to get the job done on a local level because the State Legislature has failed in two attempts. Smoking needs to be banned in public places such as restaurants, bars, bowling alleys and similar establishments. The benefits to the community are numerous but can be highlighted by:
1. Health improvements for smokers and non-smokers alike. A Wall Street Journal article on 9-22-09 shows that communities that enacted anti-smoking ordinances showed an immediate significant reduction in heart attacks of residents.
2. Non smokers will have more entertainment choices.
3. Patrons of restaurants will be able to NOT have to smell offensive smoke while at such a business or on their clothing or hair after leaving a smoke free establishment.
Thank you for your support and please sign this petition. Also please get your friends involved as well.
