I think it is terrible that Comcast, one of the nation's biggest cable/phone/internet providers, has all of a sudden started charging a $9.95 per month "HD Technology Fee". What is this fee you may ask, it is a fee in order to be able to use your HD Box... First, Comcast decided to charge it's customers a $9.25 per month/per HD box to watch your HD TV, and I have 3 boxes! NOW that they got you, since Verizon is not in every neighborhood, tied up in what they are trying to create... a "Monopoly"--- The verb "monopolize" refers to the process by which a company gains the ability to raise prices or exclude competitors . . .
This HD Technology Fee is so that you can actually use the box. Last month 2/12 Comcast raised all of their prices across the board "due to economic issues". Apparently a letter was sent, I received no letter. I was told today 3/6/12 this fee again is due to "economic hardship issues" on the company....Again "Ma’am a letter was sent", not sure where these letters are being sent but it wasn't sent to me, nor was it included on the side of my bill (last month nor this month). I firmly believe $9.95 per month, 12 months, thousands of households is outrageous. You tell me who is feeling the economic hardship with this one? People do the math. The box you have to watch HD already works why would you need this fee to work the box. I tried to get my answer AND I hope the conversation was taped because I wasn't so nice (which in hindsight didn't matter anyway "its a fee and there is no way to credit it") nor was the Supervisor on the other line who was implying that in looking at my bill and what I have, I can afford it. However, if I would have threatened to cancel my sevices, maybe I would have gotton a credit, Really should that be necessary? I don't know where this petition will take me, but I hope somewhere to show that this type of Monopolizing needs to stop-- that there are people out there who will try and make a difference for the sake of others. Please sign my petition in hopes that I can print and send with my next months bill in order to stop COMCAST from bleeding the people of our nation.
