Shaffan Ghulam is a sweet five-year-old boy who was born in Australia while his Pakistani parents were studying there. Sadly, Shaffan was born with a rare disorder called chondrodysplasia punctata affecting his bones. In fact, at 6 months old, he became paralyzed after his spine broke. Because of this, he requires around the clock care to even breathe. Now, Australia is threatening to deport him even though doctors say taking the plane ride back to Pakistan could kill him.

Will you sign the petition asking Australia to do the right thing and allow Shaffan and his parents to stay?

Shaffan's dad finished his masters degree in 2016 but because Shaffan couldn't leave the country without dying, his parents applied for permanent residency. But they were denied. And now they are facing deportation because Shaffan's medical expenses are so great. Imagine that: your child is so sick he needs constant care and can't travel and the country you happen to be in when he falls ill wants to kick you out!

Certainly there is a better way for parents and children dealt such a horrible hand in health. It's not their fault they are in this situation and as fellow human beings, we must practice empathy and create a way forward for them. Even if Shaffan did somehow survive the flight home to Pakistan, he would not get the medical care he needs there, so either way this deporation would be a death sentence for a five-year-old boy.

Australia should let them stay and save Shaffan's life. Sign the petition if you agree.
