Repeal Proposition 8
In the recent elections a proposition was passed that took away the right for same sex couples to be legally married and recognized as a family. It has come to light that this is not simply a matter of gay rights, but rather a human rights issue. The way family is portrayed modern day should be deversly different than the way it was portrayed 50 years ago. As times have changed so has society, and families should reflect the diversity of our odern day society. Do not allow the simple majority to insist we are stuck in the past, a past that is filled with hate and descrimination for those differant than the majority. Give back the right to same sex couples to legally marry and be known as a "family" Love not gender is what truly creates a family. Let us love one another and give equal rights to all.
We the undersigned, find it unfair and unconsitutional to restrict marriage based on sex. There are now many aspects of family, including those of different races, differnt cultures and different genders. If we begin restricting who can marry based on gender, where will it stop? Next we will tell people of different races that they are unable to marry, and then who? If we do not protect the rights of others, who will be their when another right is violated? This is not a gay rights issue but a human rights issue, and all humans regardless of their sexual preference deserve the same basic freedoms as everyone esle. Love not gender makes a family. Please repeal this law so that children everywhere are able to live in a whole family under the law, recieving all pprotections of the law. IF you do not do this for this generation, think of the next generation that will suffer as a result of this proposition.
