This American Life is a program that tells great stories about great people. A person we would like to suggest to you as a subject for your program is our friend Ron Shock. Ron has been a stand up comic since 1982. He began his career at the age of 40, before that he was in prison and after that he was the vice president of a major publishing company. As he put it, in a recent youtube video about his current fight with cancer, Ron says he's had a great life and he lived during the greatest time in American History. Ron was the last comic to make his TV debut on the Tonight Show With Johnny Carson in 1991. He was the last comic to debut on the program with Carson as the host. on December 14, 2011 Ron was diagnosed with cancer. It is our desire that Ron gets his stories told before he leaves us. This is why we are petitioning you.
