Early Easter Sunday morning (Apr. 1), Devyn Holmes and two others—another man (Cadillac Coleman) and a woman (Cassandra Damper)—were sitting in a car at a Valero gas station off Southmore Boulevard in Houston, Texas.The video, which was recorded via Facebook Live, shows Cassandra Damper playing with a gun as the three of them laugh and joke around while Damper points the gun at the camera, saying, "You see what we do to lying ass hoes?" apparently referring to someone who commented on the live video.
Devyn can be heard saying "You're making me nervous" as Cassandra playfully waves the gun around. "We draw down on them hoes!" Damper yells as Holmes grabs her hand as a precaution.
Cassandra then points the gun at Devin and cocks it. Cadillac Coleman can be heard in the background saying, "It ain't got no clip bud" in an effort to assure his friend that the gun wasn't loaded and everything was OK. Unfortunately for Devyn Holmes, however, the gun was in fact loaded (FYI: Just because a gun doesn't have a clip doesn't mean there's not a bullet in the chamber). Cassandra then fires the weapon, accidentally shooting Devyn in the head. Within seconds, as blood is pouring from Holmes' head, Damper and Coleman immediately evacuate the vehicle.
The horrific incident was recorded on Cadillac Coleman's Facebook Live, and despite the footage being removed from Coleman's page, it has since been reposted online multiple times.
Holmes was taken to a hospital and is reportedly on life support. According to Media Take Out, Damper and Coleman allegedly claimed that Holmes shot himself in the head when they called police, however, we can clearly see in the footage that Damper was the one who pulled the trigger. Initially Cassandra Nickcole Damper was charged with tampering with evidence, police say she tried to wipe her hands before a gunpowder test. She bonded out of jail on those charges. Then charges were upgraded to aggravated assault with reckless serious bodily injury. Damper turned herself in and once again bonded out of jail. I spoke with Devyn's mom Mrs. Sheree Holmes today 4/21/2018. Mrs. Holmes is asking for the publics help to ensure that Damper be held responsible for what she has done to Devyn. Devyn's mom also is keeping everyone updated on his condition on the page ran by her which is called Do it for Devyn which is located on facebook. Also there is a go fund me account set up. You can find the link by going to his page. The family appreciates all the love and support, but everyone knows they need all the prayers they can get. Ive also seen a lot of fundraisers going on for bracelets and t shirts. Last but not least the family is asking for everyone who wishes to help get justice for Devyn to please sign this petition so we can get it to the Mayor. Also if you have the time to write a letter to him that would be amazing. Every person who stands up for Devyn and supports his case will definitely insure Justice will be served.
