There has been a growing tension in Northern Ethiopia between one of the major tribes of Ethiopia called Amhara and the ruling minority tribe of Tigre. The tension is a result of the Tigre trying to extend their territory to the Amhara region of Gonder both crossing over a bordering river named Tekeze and threatning to take over Welkait the land of Gonder.
The Tigre ruling party has already resettled 400,000 tigre citizens to welkait, Gonder while hearing on the ownership of the land of Welkait is still in development. The Tigre rulling party is also prosecuting respected members of men from the tribe of Gonder by arresting, torturing, and murdering them using irrelevant case in order to silence opposition.
The tension can result in two major possible genocides where the Tigres can possibly wipeout the Amharas of Gonder or the Amharahs and the other opressed tribes can turn against the tigre ruling party in revange resulting in genocide as the one we witnessed in Rwanda. Right now there is an ugly tension as 20,000 armed soldiers are heading to Gonder to face the civilians of Gonder to arrest a Colonel Demeke Zewde a respected leader, a soldier, and a member of the board established to settle Welkait's fate. This tension is begging for immediate intervention as innocent lives, peace, and stability are at steak in Ethiopia, and Northeast Africa. Ethiopia is really close to the middle east and any instability there can open doors to ISIS and to more world instability, luck of peace, and mass migration.
