NEVER FORGET THEIR SACRIFICE! BRING THE NEW DORP BEACH WWII MEMORIAL HOME.

"In honor of the men and women of New Dorp Beach who served their country in World War II especially those who made the supreme sacrifice."

In 1943, the citizens of New Dorp Beach honored those who served in World War II by placing this memorial at the corner of New Dorp Lane and Cedar Gove Avenue. In 1976, it was moved to its present location in Miller Field and a memorial to those who served in Viet Nam was added. For over a decade, citizens of NDB have been seeking return of the memorial to its historic home.

Now, construction of the Staten Island seawall has placed the memorial in jeopardy. It sits within the construction footprint, and must be moved. And so this is the perfect time to bring it back to its historic home in NDB. We the undersigned encourage the NYC Department of Parks and Recreation and the National Parks Service to work with the coalition of citizens organized by the Friends of Kivlehan Park and including the New Dorp Beach and New Dorp Central Civic Associations to bring the monument home.

Time is running out, and this project must be officially approved by NYC Parks and the National Parks Service now!
