Please join my daughter Amirah Tulloch and stop another round of cuts to California's Public Educational System. $12.5 billion dollars have already been cut, a astounding $2,100 per student! We have cut all that can be cut with out doing irrevocable damge to our schools and children.
No More Cuts!!!
Dear California Legislators,
My name is Amirah Tulloch and I am 11 years old. I go to Ingrid B. Lacy School Middle School in Pacifica. Because of the budget cuts the district has had to cut supply money, teacher salaries, librarians, crossing guards, custodians, extra-curricular activities and even some teachers themselves.
I am a GATE student, yet I have never been in a real GATE class. I was once in a guitar program for GATE students but that was also cut and had to be held during recess.
Now you are taking away two days of school away from us. Those two days could be enough to finish half of our STAR testing. In those two days we could learn new lessons in math or literature. Those two days are precious even if it is only two.
I would like to see the cuts stop all together. I would like to go to school and know that all the people working in the school have secure jobs. I would like to go to school and not have to worry that this teacher might get cut or that teacher may leave due to low pay. I would like to go to school and just learn. If the cuts continue it will disrupt California%u2019s future. If my fellow classmates and I cannot get a proper education where will that leave us?
I am joining together with my fellow Pacificans in a protest against future cuts. We cannot afford to wait. Please help us now.
Sincerely,
Amirah Tulloch
