Stop Horrific Cruelty to Pigs at Seaboard Foods!
Some farm pigs live in crates so small, they can't even turn around, according to a recent investigation conducted by the Humane Society of the United States.
Undercover animal activists found that pregnant pigs at Seaboard Foods and Prestage Farms spend four months at a time immobilized in "gestation crates." And the females are bred more or less non-stop, so they can spend most of their lives stuck in one position.
Some pigs die under the stress; others suffer from injuries and untreated infections in pens coated with feces and urine.
A truly appalling video shows pigs living out their lives on concrete floors with multiple cuts and bloody noses. Some male pigs had been castrated without any pain medication.
The worst news of all is that these practices are business as usual in the factory pig farming industry. Tell the pork industry to clean up its farms and stop cruel and unusual practices.
We the undersigned are truly appalled to learn of the conditions in which pigs are farmed at your facilities. The Humane Society of the United States' video clearly shows practices that are unnecessarily cruel, including castration without pain medications and lengthy confinements in small crates. The screams of your victims are ringing in our ears. Please reform your practices and enact less cruelty on your animals.
