Urge Sephora to Stop Selling Huda Beauty Due to Ethical Concerns
Sephora positions itself as a global leader committed to inclusion, ethics, and social responsibility. These values are incompatible with continuing to sell brands whose leadership aligns with or amplifies narratives connected to state violence and oppression.
During prolonged internet shutdowns in Iran and amid widespread international reporting of mass civilian deaths, Huda Beauty’s founder publicly shared content echoing the Islamic Republic’s narrative while remaining silent on the documented suffering of Iranian civilians. In moments of large-scale human rights violations, silence and selective advocacy are not neutral acts—they function as alignment.
This incident is not isolated. Over several years, the founder of Huda Beauty has repeatedly made public statements on sensitive issues involving race, nationality, and geopolitics that have resulted in backlash from multiple communities. The pattern reflects selective empathy and a lack of accountability rather than a single misjudgment.
Sephora is not a passive marketplace. By continuing to sell Huda Beauty products, Sephora provides legitimacy, visibility, and financial benefit to a brand whose leadership conduct conflicts with widely accepted standards of corporate ethics and human dignity.
Ending a retail partnership is not censorship. It is a values-based business decision—one that companies regularly make when leadership behavior undermines trust, causes harm, or contradicts stated principles.
We therefore call on Sephora to:
• Immediately review its partnership with Huda Beauty
• Publicly address these ethical concerns
• Stop selling Huda Beauty products until accountability and corrective action are demonstrated
Consumers have the right to expect consistency between a company’s values and the brands it promotes. We urge Sephora to demonstrate leadership by aligning its retail decisions with principles of accountability, human rights, and ethical responsibility.
