Stop Doug Ford and the Conservatives From Violating Canadians' Right to Collective Action!

Doug Ford's Conservatives have used the "notwithstanding clause" to enact Bill 28, legislation that would force a contract on 55,000 educational workers -- a list that includes librarians, custodians, and early childhood educators -- and ban them from striking. This undemocratic step violates every Ontarian's right to collective bargaining and action!

Sign the petition demanding that Doug Ford and his government immediately withdraw this insulting, shameful piece of legislation!

Ford's government is shamefully targeting the lowest-paid and most vulnerable education workers who earn on average $39,000 a year.

It is the first time in Canadian history the "notwithstanding clause" has been used to stop labour action.

Aaron Guppy, a caretaker at YRDSB, spoke to the CBC from the picket line: "If they take away our rights as a union, every other union is next. They are not going to stop with just us."

Canada's Supreme Court has upheld that the Charter of Rights and Freedoms (Section 2(d) includes a right to meaningful collective bargaining, affirming the importance of "collective employee autonomy against the superior power of management."

Show your solidarity with employees who teach our kids and keep them safe.

Stand with the workers of Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) and demand this legislation be immediately withdrawn. Sign the petition today!
